Regular Season Round 4: Anwil - Polski Cukier 76-79
Date: October 27, 2018
A very interesting game took place in Wloclawek. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Anwil (2-2) to top-ranked Twarde Pierniki (4-0) 79-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Anwil. 24 personal fouls committed by Anwil helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard Robert Lowery (188-87, college: Dayton) contributed with 12 points and 9 assists for the winners. Croatian center Josip Sobin (203-89, agency: Alti Sport) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Kamil Laczynski (183-89, agency: Alti Sport) added 9 points and 6 assists in the effort for Anwil. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Anwil's coach Igor Milicic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Twarde Pierniki have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Asseco Arka. Defending champion Anwil dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Twarde Pierniki's next round opponent will be Rosa (#11) in Radom and are hoping to win another game. Anwil will play at home against Spojnia Stargard (#14) and hope to win that game.
