Regular Season Round 5: AZS UMCS - Artego Bydg. 67-76

There was no surprise in Lublin where 9th ranked AZS UMCS (1-4) was defeated by leader Artego Bydg. (3-0) 76-67 on Saturday. Artego Bydg. made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. AZS UMCS was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Agnieszka Szott-Hejmej (186-82) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Chilean center Ziomara Morrison (194-89) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Brianna Kiesel (170-93, college: Pittsburgh) produced 23 points and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Ukrainian forward Kateryna Rymarenko (185-90) added 16 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Artego Bydg. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. AZS UMCS lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with four games lost. Artego Bydg. will face higher ranked Arka Gdynia (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS UMCS will play against the league's leader CCC Polkowice (#1) and hope to win that game.
