Regular Season Round 4: Gipuzkoa UPV - Valencia 62-65

The most surprising game was the first loss of Gipuzkoa UPV (3-1) in San Sebastian on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fourteenth ranked Valencia (1-3) 65-62. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gipuzkoa UPV. Valencia forced 21 Gipuzkoa UPV turnovers. Strangely Gipuzkoa UPV outrebounded Valencia 40-27 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tinara Moore (190-96, college: Cent.Michigan) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Maria Pina (187-87) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. Swedish guard Ellen Nystrom (185-93, college: Colorado St.) replied with 12 points and 8 rebounds and American center Vionise Pierre-Louis (193-95, college: Oklahoma) added 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Gipuzkoa UPV. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valencia left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Gipuzkoa UPV at the other side dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. Valencia is looking forward to face higher ranked Mann Filter (#7) in Zaragoza in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gipuzkoa UPV will play on the road against Al-Qazeres in Caceres and is hoping to win this game.
