Very predictable result in Katowice where top-ranked AZS AWF Mick. (6-0) defeated 9th ranked Unia Tarnow (2-4) 101-86 on Saturday. AZS AWF Mick. made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Unia Tarnow turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Unia Tarnow was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Aleksander Maslanka (195-91) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Mariusz Piotrkowski (198-84) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Tomasz Bryzek (195-86) with 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Jacek Sulowski (192-79) scored 17 points. Five AZS AWF Mick. and four Unia Tarnow players scored in double figures. AZS AWF Mick. have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group C with 6-0 record. Newly promoted Unia Tarnow dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. AZS AWF Mick. will face Bielsko-Biala (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Unia Tarnow will play against Zaglebie and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
