Regular Season Round 5: ToPo - Kouvot 73-84

Bottom-ranked Torpan Pojat (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 84-73 loss to sixth ranked Kouvottaret (3-2) in Helsinki on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-73. Kouvottaret forced 22 Torpan Pojat turnovers. Center Claire Lamunun (185-93) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Camille Zimmerman (184-95, college: Columbia) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Ladondra Johnson (178, college: Young Harris) responded with 31 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Briana Gray (178, college: Weber St.) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Torpan Pojat's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kouvottaret moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Catz. Newly promoted Torpan Pojat still closes the standings with five games lost. Kouvottaret will meet at home Helmi Basket (#7) in the next round. Torpan Pojat will play against Tapiolan Honka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
