Regular Season Round 2: Hoops - Al Riyadi 78-81

Important game to mention about took place in Beirut. Al Riyadi (2-0) saved a 3-point derby victory on the road edging Hoops Club (0-2) 81-78 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American-Iraqi point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international guard Amir Saoud (186-91) supported him with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks by Senegalese forward Ibrahima Thomas (213-87, college: Cincinnati) did not help to save the game for Hoops Club. The former international Bilal Tabbara (198-93) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Riyadi will play against Champville in Dik El Mehdi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hoops Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Homentmen.
