Undefeated Gijon Basket (2-1) recorded its first loss on the court of twelfth ranked Betanzos on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Betanzos 97-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gijon Basket. Betanzos made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Senegalese power forward Abdou Thiam (204-98) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and center Marcos Rozas (202-83) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Betanzos' coach Ivan Villaverde allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by Canadian forward Ryan Ejim (201, college: Carleton) did not help to save the game for Gijon Basket. American power forward Malik Wineglass (203-93, college: Harris-Stowe St.) added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Betanzos and five Gijon Basket players scored in double figures. Betanzos (1-2) left bottom position moving up to ninth place in Group A-B, which they share with Rosalia and Carbajosa. Loser Gijon Basket keeps the third position with one game lost. They share it with 5 other teams.
