There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Chieti (3-2) beat at home higher ranked Fabriano (3-2) 81-64 on Sunday. Chieti shot 60.4 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Naturalized Senegalese guard Ousmane Gueye (192-82) stepped up and scored 17 points and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Riziero Ponziani (205-94) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Chieti players scored in double figures. Guard Filiberto Dri (190-89) responded with 18 points and 6 assists and guard Nicolo Gatti (196-91) scored 18 points. Chieti moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Fabriano. Chieti will face Nardo (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fabriano will play against Catanzaro (#11) and hope to win that game.
