Regular Season Round 6: Amazonas - Correcaminos 32-98

An interesting game for Correcaminos (8-2) which played road game in against 4th ranked Amazonas (3-7). Second ranked Correcaminos had an easy win 98-32. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Amazonas' 20 and had 22 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Amazonas only scored three points from the stripe. Correcaminos forced 21 Amazonas turnovers and outrebounded them 43-22 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Veronica Vega (-90) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Shayra Brown (175-92, college: Boston Coll.) contributed with 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the winners. Correcaminos' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mariangel Concha replied with 8 points and 6 rebounds and Maria Garcia added 9 points in the effort for Amazonas. Correcaminos maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Panteras. Newly promoted Amazonas keep the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Atletico.
