Regular Season Round 4: Fr.Mathews - IT Carlow 68-71

The most exciting game of round 4 in the Super League took place in Cork. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Fr.Mathews (2-2) to eighth ranked IT Carlow (2-2) 71-68 in the game for the fifth place. IT Carlow shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kate OFlaherty (180-96) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Aoife Whelan (182-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Grainne Dwyer (182-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and American forward Shannon Brady (183, college: Bowdoin) added 24 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Fr.Mathews. IT Carlow moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Fr.Mathews. IT Carlow is looking forward to face league's leader Glanmire in Cork in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fr.Mathews' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Cork to the arena Brunell.
