Regular Season Round 4: Aris - Olympiacos 64-68

There was no surprise in Thessaloniki where 10th ranked Aris (1-3) was defeated by top-ranked Olympiacos (4-0) 68-64. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Aris won third quarter 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by the former international guard Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Zach LeDay (201-94, college: Virginia Tech) supported him with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Even 25 points by American guard Lucky Jones (198-93, college: Robert Morris) did not help to save the game for Aris. French point guard Boris Dallo (196-94, agency: Octagon Europe) added 7 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Olympiacos have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Peristeri GS and Panathinaikos. Aris lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with three games lost. Olympiacos' next round opponent will be Lavrio (#7) at home where they are favorite. Aris will play against Kolossos HH in Rodou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
