No shocking result in a game in Brissac-Quince where sixth ranked Vitre (5-3) defeated 13th ranked Brissac Anjou (2-6) 86-71 on Tuesday. They outrebounded Brissac Anjou 38-26 including 33 on the defensive glass. Vitre looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Jerrell Wright (203-92, college: La Salle) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Vitre's coach Mike Gonsalves used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Maxime Chupin (205-89, college: Cal-Irvine) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Mali swingman Sourata Cisse (196-86) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Five Vitre and four Brissac Anjou players scored in double figures. Vitre moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Toulouse and Le Havre. Brissac Anjou lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Vitre will face STB Le Havre (#5) on the road in the next round. Brissac Anjou will play against La Rochelle (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
