Regular Season Round 5: Jiangsu D. - Shanghai S. 103-117

Very predictable result in Nanjing where fifth ranked Sharks (4-1) defeated 12th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (2-3) 117-103 on Wednesday. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Jiangsu Dragons' 48 and made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Sharks forced 22 Jiangsu Dragons turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Jiangsu Dragons were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Sharks players scored in double figures. Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) scored 27 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sharks. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Liaoning FL and Guangzhou LL. Loser Jiangsu Dragons dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Sharks will face Beijing Ducks (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jiangsu Dragons will play against the league's leader Guandong Tigers and hope to win that game.
