Regular Season Round 7: Panteras - Aaguacateros 99-102

The most exciting game of round 7 in the LNBP took place in Aguascalientes. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Panteras (3-5) to second ranked Aaguacateros (5-1) 102-99 on Wednesday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 23-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Aaguacateros shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Eduardo Gonzalez (-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 9 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international center Adrian Zamora (206-86, college: Montana St.) helped adding 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American forward Stedmon Lemon (198-92, college: Johnson C. Smith) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Hameed Ali (188-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) scored 13 points and 9 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Aaguacateros maintains second place with 5-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Capitanes. Panteras at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Libertadores. Aaguacateros are looking forward to face Abejas (#3) in Guanajuato in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Panteras will play on the road against Angeles in Puebla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
