Regular Season Round 7: Pozuelo - Estudio 83-81

There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Pozuelo (2-5) edged at home 13th ranked Estudio (1-4) 83-81 on Wednesday. Estudio was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Alberto Arias (188-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). Power forward Daniel Busto (203-92, college: Ohlone CC) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Pozuelo players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Eduardo Gomez (194-93) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and point guard Juan Llorente (192-93) scored 23 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Pozuelo moved-up to thirteenth place in Group B, which they share with Lanzarote. Estudio lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with four games lost. Pozuelo will face higher ranked Aridane (#8) in Los Llanos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudio will play on the road against CB Guadalajara (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
