The game between Top Four teams took place in Mexicali. 4th placed host Soles (3-3) lost to first ranked Capitanes (6-2) 86-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Soles. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Soles won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Capitanes won last quarter 26-24. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Soles' 40. American point guard Carl Jones (180-91, college: St.Joseph's) fired 25 points for the winners. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. International guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (175-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) added 21 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Soles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Capitanes maintains first place with 6-2 record, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Loser Soles dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Abejas and Laguneros. Capitanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Soles will play against Libertadores in Queretaro and hope to secure a win.
