Regular Season Round 6: Tormes - Marin 69-71
Date: November 2, 2018
Everything could happen in Salamanca at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Marin and 8th ranked Tormes had identical 2-3 record. But Tormes was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Marin 71-69 on Friday night. Marin forced 19 Tormes turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Marin made 7 blocks. Tormes was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Jordan Gregory (188-92, college: Montana) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds. British-Irish forward Taiwo Badmus (203-93, college: Virginia-Wise) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Naturalized Puerto Rican forward Juan-Ramon Rivas (203-94, college: N.Georgia, agency: Duran International) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and guard Lucas Antunez (190-95, college: Northeastern St.) added 17 points in the effort for Tormes. Four Tormes players scored in double figures. Tormes' coach Jandro Zubillaga tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Marin maintains ninth position in Silver with 3-3 record. Tormes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. Marin will face league's second-placed Navarra in Pamplona in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tormes will play on the road against Fontedoso Carrefour (#5) in Avila and hope to win that game.
