Regular Season Round 5: Polpharma - AZS Koszalin 99-84

Bottom-ranked AZS Koszalin (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-84 loss to fifth ranked Polpharma (4-1) in Starogard Gdanski on Friday evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Polpharma forced 19 AZS Koszalin turnovers. Strangely AZS Koszalin outrebounded Polpharma 42-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. AZS Koszalin was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Justin Bibbins (173-96, college: Utah) who scored 20 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Adam Kemp (208-90, college: Marist) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. American forward Brandon Walters (208-95, college: Middle Tenn.St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Canadian forward Greg Surmacz (203-86) added 7 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Polpharma moved-up to third place, which they share with BM Slam Stal and Asseco Arka. AZS Koszalin lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Polpharma will face Start (#9) in Lublin in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS Koszalin will play at home against Anwil (#11) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
