There was no surprise in Rio de Janeiro where 9th ranked Vasco Da G. (2-4) was defeated by fifth ranked Paulistano (4-2) 76-60 on Friday. Paulistano outrebounded Vasco Da G. 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Vasco Da G. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international Leonardo Meindl (201-93) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Guilherme Hubner (208-87) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Germerson Barbosa (202-93) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Nick Okorie (185-88, college: Texas Tech) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively. Paulistano maintains fifth position with 4-2 record. Vasco Da G. lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with four games lost.
