Regular Season Round 8: Gravelines - Cholet 87-83

Very expected game when 16th ranked Cholet Basket (1-7) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (5-3) 87-83 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gravelines-Dunkerque looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Karvel Anderson (188-91, college: Robert Morris) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import power forward Taylor Smith (199-91, college: SF Austin) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American power forward Franklin Hassell (205-88, college: ODU) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Pape Sy (198-88, agency: BeoBasket) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Gravelines-Dunkerque and four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Gravelines-Dunkerque moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Cholet Basket lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with seven games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque will face Boulazac Basket (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Cholet Basket will play against Monaco (#12) and hope to win that game.
