Regular Season Round 5: Celje - Banovici 92-74

WABA top team - Slovenian Celje (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Bosnian Banovici (1-4) 92-74. The game was mostly controlled by Celje. Banovici was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Banovici 42-23 including 17 on the offensive glass. Celje shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Guard Zala Friskovec (179-99) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Croatian center Andrea Maric (195-97, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. Montenegrin center Nikolina Zubac (188-98) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Serbian guard Latinka Dusanic (178-90) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Celje have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending Slovenian champion maintains first place with 4-0 record. Defending Bosnian champion Banovici keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Celje will play against Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Banovici will have a break next round.
