Regular Season Round 6: Shanghai - Fujian 87-72

Swordfish can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Fujian Nanan (1-5) 87-72. Swordfish dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fujian Nanan's 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for Montenegrin center Jelena Dubljevic (191-87, agency: BeoBasket) who led her team to a victory with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Center Zhiting Zhang (196) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Qingrong Lin replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American center Alicia DeVaughn (193-91, college: Maryland, agency: ProDep Management) added 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Fujian Nanan. Four Fujian Nanan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swordfish left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Fujian and Liaoning. It was Fujian Nanan's third loss in a row. Swordfish will play against higher ranked Blue Whales (#8) in Chengdu in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fujian Nanan will play on the road against Jiangsu Phoenix (#5) in Nanjing to get more than just one victory in their record.
