Regular Season Round 7: Trefl II Sopot - Gniezno 89-76

There was an upset when higher ranked Gniezno (3-4) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Trefl II Sopot (1-5) 89-76 on Saturday. Trefl II Sopot forced 23 Gniezno turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Wiktor Rajewicz (178-0) fired 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Benjamin Didier-Urbaniak (198-1) chipped in 17 points. Michal Szydlowski (197-87) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Marek Sobkowiak (200-86) added 18 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Gniezno players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Trefl II Sopot left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in Group A, which they share with Tarnovia and SMS PZKosz. Loser Gniezno dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face higher ranked Miedzychod (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
