There was an upset when higher ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (3-6) was edged on the road by fourteenth ranked Kaysersberg (2-7) 83-82 on Saturday. It was a good game for Canadian-British forward Jermel Kennedy (201-89, college: Lander) who saved his team from a defeat with 20 points and 4 steals. Guard Willy Berquier (177-87) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists for the winners. Kaysersberg's coach Fabien Drago used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized Algerian Mehdi Cheriet (204-87, college: San Diego St.) answered with 25 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for SO Maritime Boulogne. Five Kaysersberg and four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. Kaysersberg moved-up to twelfth place in Group A, which they share with GET Vosges and Aubenas. Loser SO Maritime Boulogne keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Kaysersberg will face higher ranked ALS Basket (#8) in Andrezieux in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
