Regular Season Round 7: Liceo Frances - Daimiel 109-83

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 16th ranked Daimiel's (1-6) road loss to fifteenth ranked Liceo Frances (2-4) 83-109 on Saturday. Liceo Frances dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Daimiel's 38. They outrebounded Daimiel 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Finnish forward Juho Gummerus (201-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Andres Rico (189-97) helped adding 16 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Liceo Frances' coach Jorge Lorenzo felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Julian Lewis (196-92, college: Lewis) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Nigerian point guard Brian Egejuru (186-94, college: Cent.Methodist) scored 24 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Liceo Frances moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with Casvi. Daimiel lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with six games lost. Liceo Frances will face league's leader Gran Canaria II in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Daimiel will play at home against Alcobendas (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
