Regular Season Round 11: Yokohama BC - Niigata Albirex 72-79

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Yokohama BC (3-8) was defeated at home by second ranked Niigata Albirex (7-4) 79-72 on Saturday. Niigata Albirex made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) helped adding 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Ryo Tawatari (180-93, college: Dominican, CA) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. Yokohama BC's coach Thomas Wisman gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Niigata Albirex keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Toyama Grouses. Loser Yokohama BC dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round. Yokohama BC will play again at home against the league's leader Niigata Albirex (#1) and hope to win that game.
