Regular Season Round 5: Araski - Avenida 64-87

Date: November 3, 2018
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Araski (4-1) in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Perfumerias Avenida (5-0) 87-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Araski. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Brazilian center Erika De-Souza (197-82, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up and scored 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Montenegrin-American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Ariel Edwards (190-92, college: Penn St., agency: Ron Sport) responded with 19 points and Dutch guard Natalie Van-Den-Adel (185-90, college: Colorado St.) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Gernika. Araski at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Gipuzkoa UPV and Girona. Perfumerias Avenida is looking forward to face Maquinaria Ensino (#8) in Lugo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Araski will play on the road against the league's second-placed Gernika (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
