Regular Season Round 5: Adelantados - De La Torre 75-52

Very predictable result when third ranked Adelantados (4-1) rolled over 11th ranked De La Torre (1-4) in San Cristobal 75-52 on Saturday. Adelantados dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to De La Torre's 20. They outrebounded De La Torre 42-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-96, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Rita-Esther Montenegro (188-82, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Adelantados players scored in double figures. American swingman Jasmine Lumpkin (183-96, college: Texas A&M) answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Maria Perez (-85) added 12 points in the effort for De La Torre. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Adelantados. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Estudiantes. De La Torre lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with four games lost. Adelantados will face UCAM Jairis (#13) in Alcantarilla in the next round which should be another easy win for them. De La Torre will play at home against Leganes and hope to win that game.
