Everything could happen in Jinan at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Golden Stars and 9th ranked Blue Whales had identical 3-3 record. This time Golden Stars used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Sichuan 103-97. Strangely Blue Whales outrebounded Golden Stars 49-30 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. Golden Stars players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Blue Whales helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Andrew Goudelock (190-88, college: Charleston) chipped in 25 points and 6 assists. Four Golden Stars players scored in double figures. Golden Stars' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) added 18 points and 17 rebounds respectively for lost side. Golden Stars (4-3) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Blue Whales at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Golden Stars' next round opponent will be Xinjiang Flying Tige (#8) in Urumqi. Blue Whales will play on the road against Jilin Tigers in Changchun and hope to win that game.
