Regular Season Round 7: Gandia - UCAM Murcia II 81-88

Everything went according to plan when leader UCAM Murcia II (4-0) beat on the road 3rd placed Gandia (3-2) 88-81 on Saturday. UCAM Murcia II made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Gandia turnovers. Strangely Gandia outrebounded UCAM Murcia II 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Imanol Artinano (203-95, college: Alders.-Broad.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Emilio Martinez (183-98) helped adding 21 points. At the losing side Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) responded with 19 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Montenegrin power forward Miki Novovic (208-92) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gandia players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for UCAM Murcia II. They maintain first place in Group E-B with 4-0 record. Loser Gandia keeps the third position with two games lost. UCAM Murcia II will face Benidorm (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gandia will play against L'Alfas in Alfas Del Pi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
