Regular Season Round 7: Huelva - Utrera 73-81

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Huelva (2-3) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Utrera (2-3) 81-73 on Saturday. Utrera forced 19 Huelva turnovers. Strangely Huelva outrebounded Utrera 52-29 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Andres Tejada (195-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 assists. Power forward Francisco-Javier Marquez (203-99) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American forward BJ Gladden (198-95, college: Georgia South) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and center Sebastian Dominguez (207-90) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. Four Huelva players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Utrera moved-up to sixth place in Group D-B, which they share with Huelva and Caceres. Utrera will face higher ranked Cordobasket (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
