Regular Season Round 7: Ordizia-Basoa - Mondragon 63-87

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Mondragon (3-1) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Ordizia-Basoa (0-4) 87-63 on Saturday. Mondragon forced 19 Ordizia-Basoa turnovers. It was a great evening for American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Dani Lorenzo (181-93) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. Mondragon's coach Inaki Ogara felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Asier De-la-Iglesia (201-83) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Peru Arrondo (188-97) scored 12 points. Five Mondragon and four Ordizia-Basoa players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mondragon. They moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Ordizia-Basoa lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Mondragon will face Goierri (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ordizia-Basoa will play against Santurtzi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
