Regular Season Round 8: Le Mans - Strasbourg 71-75

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked SIG Strasbourg and 7th ranked Le Mans had identical 4-3 record. But Le Mans was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Strasbourg 75-71 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 14 points. Power forward Petr Cornelie (211-95) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SIG Strasbourg (5-3) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Le Mans lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. SIG Strasbourg will face league's leader ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Le Mans will play against Chalons-Reims (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
