Regular Season Round 7: Tenerife - Zaragoza 86-88

A very interesting game took place in Tenerife. It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked CB Canarias (4-3) to thirteenth ranked Zaragoza (3-4) 88-86 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CB Canarias won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaragoza dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to CB Canarias' 28. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Radovic (208-91, agency: BeoBasket) who led the winners and scored 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American swingman Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. International forward Javier Beiran (200-87) came up with 21 points and 4 assists and American Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) added 17 points respectively for CB Canarias in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Zaragoza moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 5 other teams. CB Canarias at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Zaragoza's next round opponent will be Movil Estudiantes (#16) in Madrid and are hoping to win another game. CB Canarias will play on the road against Gran Canaria (#17) in Las Palmas and hope to win that game.
