Regular Season Round 8: Boulazac - Pau-Lacq-Orthez 90-77

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Boulazac Basket (4-4) beat at home higher ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (4-4) 90-77 on Saturday. Boulazac Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pau-Lacq-Orthez's 38. Boulazac Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) who scored 19 points and 6 assists. Dutch center Nicolas de-Jong (210-88) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Leopold Cavaliere (202-96, agency: BeoBasket) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and Venezuelan-American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) added 19 points respectively for the guests. Four Pau-Lacq-Orthez players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Boulazac Basket moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Boulazac Basket will face higher ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
