Regular Season Round 7: UPCT Basket - L'Alfas 86-89

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Cartagena where 4th placed UPCT Basket (2-3) was edged by fifth ranked L'Alfas (2-2) 89-86 on Saturday. L'Alfas well out of reach of UPCT Basket shooting 72.5 percent from the field and made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. UPCT Basket was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for British forward Samuel Egedi (198-95, college: Harris-Stowe St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds. American swingman JaDante Frye (193-94, college: Nicholls St.) helped adding 23 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side point guard David Alvarez (184-94) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and forward Alberto Ballesta (202-95) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. L'Alfas moved-up to fourth place in Group E-B. Newly promoted UPCT Basket dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. L'Alfas will face higher ranked Gandia (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
