Everything could happen in Venezia at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked San Martino and 11th ranked Marghera had identical 2-3 record. But Marghera was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from San Martino di L 59-58 on Saturday night. San Martino forced 27 Marghera turnovers. Strangely Marghera outrebounded San Martino 39-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Alice Milani (170-99) who scored 15 points. Irene Guarise (-3) chipped in 10 points. San Martino's coach Enrico Valentini used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Silvia Pastrello (181-1) added 16 points and 4 steals respectively. San Martino (3-3) moved-up to eighth place in A2. Loser Marghera dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. San Martino will face higher ranked Team Crema (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Marghera will play against Carugate (#7) in Corugate and hope to win that game.
