There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Rueil (4-5) crushed at home 8th ranked Union Tours (4-5) 100-81 on Saturday. Rueil made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Union Tours turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a good game for forward Vincent Fandelet (197-92) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). American center Rashid Gaston (206-94, college: Norfolk St., agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) answered with 21 points and 4 assists and Jamaican Tyran De Lattibeaudiere (201-91, college: Lamar) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Union Tours. Four Rueil and five Union Tours players scored in double figures. Rueil moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Union Tours and Stade Rochelais. Union Tours lost their fourth game in a row. Rueil will face Lourdes-Tarbes (#12) on the road in the next round.
