Regular Season Round 12: Yokohama BC - Niigata Albirex 63-87

Leader Niigata Albirex delivered the eighth victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Yokohama BC (3-9) 87-63. Niigata Albirex dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Yokohama BC's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and the other American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) supported him with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Even 15 points and 6 assists by the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) did not help to save the game for Yokohama BC. Point guard Masashi Hosoya (173-89) added 15 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex maintains first position with 8-4 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Yokohama BC lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Niigata Albirex's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yokohama BC will play at home against San-en NeoPhoenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
