Regular Season Round 7: Leon - Betanzos 67-53

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Leon (3-1) defeated at home bottom-ranked Betanzos (1-3) 67-53 on Sunday. Leon forced 19 Betanzos turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Mateo Sanchez (188-99) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points. Center Sergio Martinez (208-92) helped adding 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Leon players scored in double figures. At the losing side Senegalese power forward Abdou Thiam (204-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and center Marcos Rozas (202-83) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Leon moved-up to third place in Group A-B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Betanzos stay at the bottom position with three games lost. Leon will face Carbajosa (#7) on the road in the next round. Betanzos will play against Innova Chef and hope to win that game.
