Regular Season Round 6: CCC Polkowice - AZS UMCS 74-60

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked CCC Polkowice as it allowed them to take a leadership position. CCC Polkowice defeated 9th ranked AZS UMCS at home 74-60. They outrebounded AZS UMCS 36-25 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by AZS UMCS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for British Johannah Leedham-Warner (180-87, college: Franklin Pierce) who led her team to a victory with 7 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Jasmine Thomas (175-89, college: Duke) contributed with 5 points and 9 assists for the winners. CCC Polkowice's coach Maros Kovacik used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ukrainian forward Kateryna Rymarenko (185-90) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Brianna Kiesel (170-93, college: Pittsburgh) added 17 points in the effort for AZS UMCS. CCC Polkowice (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sleza Wroclaw. AZS UMCS lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. AZS UMCS will play next round against Energa Torun trying to get back on the winning streak. CCC Polkowice will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Arka Gdynia on the road.
