Regular Season Round 7: Etzella - Sparta 74-69

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Etzella (5-2) beat 8th ranked Sparta (1-6) in Ettelbruck 74-69 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Etzella made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Brandy Montgomery (178-95, college: Auburn) who led the winners and scored 21 points. Serbian Zorica Mitov (188-87) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. American guard Gaby Bronson (183-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Brittany Hernandez (185-93, college: Colorado Springs) added 22 points respectively for Sparta in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Etzella. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Amicale. Loser Sparta keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Wiltz. Etzella will meet league's second-placed Amicale in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sparta will play against Basket Esch (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
