Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Magic Deer (4-3) lost to leader Vermilion Birds (7-0) in Dongguan 73-90 on Monday. Vermilion Birds looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Magic Deer's players. Quite impressive performance for international center Yueru Li (192-99) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Aerial Powers (183-94, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American center Natasha Howard (190-91, college: Florida St., agency: LBM Management) answered with 25 points and 6 rebounds and center Xu Han (206) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Magic Deer. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Vermilion Birds. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bayi. Loser Magic Deer keeps the seventh place with three games lost. Vermilion Birds will face Sports Lottery (#9) in Penglai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Magic Deer will play at home against the league's leader Bayi Kylin and hope to win that game.
