Regular Season Round 7: Ura Basket - Kouvot 55-93

Bottom-ranked Kouvot managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses on Tuesday night. This time they outleveled tenth-ranked Ura Basket in Kaarina 93-55. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 38-point difference suggests that Kouvot is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Kouvot led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Kouvot outrebounded Ura Basket 50-34 including 20 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Swingman Teemu Knihtinen (194-98) helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds. Five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Coach Jyri Lehtonen's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Senegalese-American power forward Malik Dime (206-92, college: Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and center Mikael Sandberg (210-91) scored 5 points and 10 rebounds. Kouvot (2-4) moved-up to tenth place. Newly promoted Ura Basket dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Kouvot will meet at home higher ranked UU-Korihait (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ura Basket will have a break next round.
