There was no surprise in Kotka where 11th ranked Helsinki Seagulls (1-5) was defeated by seventh ranked KTP-Basket (3-5) 98-89. Helsinki Seagulls was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 32-17 third quarter run of KTP-Basket. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Helsinki Seagulls' 38 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Donte Thomas (200-96, college: Bradley) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Tyrell Nelson (201-95, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. KTP-Basket's coach Tomi Kaminen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Armenian-American guard Andre Spight (191-95, college: N.Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and international Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Helsinki Seagulls in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. KTP-Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Korihait. Helsinki Seagulls lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with five games lost. KTP-Basket's next round opponent will be higher ranked Kauhajoki (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
