Regular Season Round 7: Pyrinto - BC Nokia 111-83

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tampere. Third ranked Tampereen Pyrinto faced their biggest opponent BC Nokia. Host Tampereen Pyrinto (5-1) smashed guests from Nokia (5-3) 111-83. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of BC Nokia. The game without a history. Tampereen Pyrinto led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Tampereen Pyrinto shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international point guard Antero Lehto (185-84) contributed with 17 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto's coach Sami Toiviainen felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) answered with 20 points and the other American import power forward Sean OMara (208-95, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BC Nokia. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tampereen Pyrinto. They moved-up to second place. BC Nokia at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto will again play against BC Nokia (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BC Nokia will have a break next round.
