Regular Season Round 8: Polfarmex Kutno - Kotwica 87-85

Fourteenth-ranked Kotwica (1-6) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Polfarmex (5-3) in Kutno. Polfarmex managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Kotwica outrebounded Polfarmex 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Polfarmex brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Kotwica helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Michal Marek (208-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Pawel Nowicki (201-92) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Polfarmex players scored in double figures. Swingman Szymon Ryzek (190-97) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Damian Janiak (195-89, agency: Promotex) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Kotwica. Kotwica's coach Dawid Mieczkowski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Polfarmex moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Enea Astoria and GKS Tychy. Kotwica lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. Polfarmex's next round opponent will be Pogon Prudnik (#11) on the road where they are favorite. Kotwica will play against the league's leader Sokol Lancut (#1) and hope to win that game.
