Regular Season Round 8: Handlova - Lucenec 74-84

Lucenec has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Handlova, where they defeated Handlova (3-5) 84-74. The winners were led by American forward Duke Shelton (208-95, college: Tampa) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import center Ethan Jacobs (211-90, college: Colgate) supported him with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Lucenec players scored in double figures. Even 23 points and 4 steals by Serbian Djordje Tresac (193-87, agency: 011 Sports) did not help to save the game for Handlova. The former international forward Jakub Petras (211-94, college: Stony Brook) added 6 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Newly promoted Lucenec maintains ninth position with 1-7 record. Handlova at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Rieker KN and Nova Ves. Lucenec will play against higher ranked Iskra Svit (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Handlova will play against Rieker KN in Komarno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
