Regular Season Round 2: Marburg - Piestanske C. 66-78

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of German BC Pharmaserv Marburg (1-1) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Slovakian Piestanske C. (1-0) 78-66. Canadian center Jessica Lubin (185-90) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) supported her with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Piestanske C. players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Tonisha Baker (173-90, college: Campbell) did not help to save the game for BC Pharmaserv Marburg. American-German forward Marie Bertholdt (183-95, college: Santa Clara) added 12 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piestanske C. will play against Sokol Hradec Kralove (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will have a break next round.
