Sixth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (6-2) crushed at home 8th ranked Blue Whales (4-4) by 16 points 80-64, which is the biggest margin this round. Jiangsu Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 42. Jiangsu Phoenix forced 19 Blue Whales turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Canadian Natalie Achonwa (190-92, college: Notre Dame) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Center Chenyan Xu (199) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Beijing and Hebei. Blue Whales at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix's next round opponent will be higher ranked Flame (#3) in Taiyuan and it may be the game of the week. Blue Whales will play at home against Red Wolves (#13) and hope to win that game.
